Dr. ISMAIL (Senior Member, IEEE – OSA Member) had postdoctoral research in optical and wireless networks with the Technical Institute of Microwave and Photonic Engineering, University of Graz, Austria, in 2015. In 2018, he was a research associate in the Optical Wireless Communication research group at the Department of Engineering and Sciences, University of Oxford, U.K., to work on the research of quantum key distribution in free space. In addition. Dr. Ismail is currently the Director of the Wireless Intelligent Networks Research Center (WINC) at Nile University, Egypt. Additionally, his professional technical experience spans more than 15 years in wireless communications, information technology, and network security. Dr. Ismail has over 115 publications (Scopus indexed) in optical and wireless communications which garnered close to 500 citations and 4 paper awards.
Dr. Satyanand Singh earned his M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics & Communication Engineering from NIT Rourkela and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (India), in 2002 and 2016 respectively. Dr. Satyanand Singh has two years of post-doctoral research experience with the University of South Pacific Fiji. Presently, he is working with Fiji National University, Fiji, College of Engineering, Science, & Technology, as an Associate Professor in the School of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. His primary research interests include speaker recognition, robust speech modeling, feature extraction, pattern recognition, biometrics, and 5G antenna design. Dr. Satyanand Singh is a fellow member and chartered engineer of the Institution of Engineers India. Recently, he received a professional membership from the Fiji Institution of Engineers.
Dr Yaseera Ismail is a Senior Lecturer within the School of Chemistry and Physics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and an Experimental Quantum Physicist within the Quantum Research Group. She obtained a master of science in Physics Cum Laude in 2011 based at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Pretoria, South Africa and obtained a doctorate degree specialising in experimental quantum optics in 2015 at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal within the Quantum Research Group. Her research interest lies in developing quantum-enabled devices in the field of quantum information, processing, communication and computation. Dr Ismail held an NRF Thuthuka Grant from 2019-2021 and initiated international collaborations with research groups in China, Russia and India, which led to a successful Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) Joint Multi-lateral Science and Technology Research Grant (2020–2023).She received the 2016 United States TechWomen Emerging Leader award
and is a 2018 Optica Ambassador, formerly known as Optical Society of America (OSA). Dr Ismail is an editorial board member for the Scientific Reports Journal and was invited in 2021 to be guest editor for a special issue of the Scientific Report Journal on Quantum Information and Computation. Dr Ismail serves as the Chair of the Optica’s International Esther Hoffman Beller Award Committee in 2022-2023 and has served as an International Advisory Committee member for several International Conferences. Dr Ismail was awarded, in 2021, the DHET Future Professor Fellow Award, which recognises top young researchers in South Africa. Dr Ismail also holds the position of Optica’s Vice President on the International Commission for Optics (ICO).
